Phil Gurnett
Clinical Simulation Fellow
Phil joined the University in October 2021 having worked in the NHS for the past 23 years.
His clinical background is in Cardiac and Emergency care nursing having worked in a variety of roles including Interventional Cardiology, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Cardiac Ward Manager, Cardiac Specialist Nurse and an Interim post as an Emergency Department Matron.
In 2017 Phil moved into Clinical Education at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust to run the Simulation team. This had a focus on Medical Simulation-Based Education and developed into an interprofessional service that delivered centre based, In Situ and system testing simulation along with Human Factors/ Ergonomics training.
Phil has an interest in the use of simulation and ergonomics to develop healthcare systems, the use of sound within simulation and process as well as the embedding of ergonomics in healthcare.
