What are we?
We offer a range of support services to help you make the most of your time whilst at university. Including local health service information, counselling, disability and dyslexia, mental health & psychological wellbeing support.

Counselling
Counselling provides a safe, confidential space where students can explore any difficulties that are having an emotional impact on them.
These difficulties can include anxiety, low mood and depression, stress, loneliness, relationship difficulties, loss of confidence, family struggles, sexuality and sexual orientation, abuse, academic problems, identity issues, self-harming, trauma and eating disorders.
Counselling aims to listen, support and validate students in order to find ways to understand and manage their difficulties better. Counselling focuses on increasing self-awareness and working towards change.

Disability and Dyslexia support
To find out about support available at the university for disabled students, students with mental health conditions, specific learning difficulties and long term medical conditions, visit the Student Wellbeing Service page.
Mental Health team
Our Coordinators (Mental Health) offer generic mental health advice and guidance to students who have a diagnosis (or symptoms) of moderate to severe and enduring mental health problems by providing:
- practical, action-planning-based support
- guidance on mental health and wellbeing related issues
- signposting to appropriate mental health services that can support you during your time at university.

Psychological Wellbeing team
Wellbeing Advisors offer confidential, pastoral support and a space to explore things that may be worrying you.
We work to support students who experience a range of issues such as loneliness, friendship difficulties, and other life challenges. We also work with students in a positive, proactive way to help you identify ways to get ahead.
We want to help you identify life challenges and support you in making the changes needed to achieve academic success and thrive in your time at university.

Sports and Physical Wellbeing
There are gym facilities onsite at Greenwich and Avery Hill. At Medway, we offer discounted gym and swim membership at a local leisure centre.
Getting medical care as a student
To access NHS physical and mental health services locally you must be registered with a local GP.

Worried about a fellow student?
Help is out there if you're concerned for someone's welfare.
If you are worried about another student's wellbeing encourage them to speak to our Student Wellbeing Service.

You can also report any bullying, harassment, hate crime, discrimination or sexual misconduct through the team.

Christmas and New Year 2024 closure
The Student Wellbeing Service offices will close at the end of the day on Friday 20 December, and reopen on Thursday 2 January.
